Innermost A safe space for your thoughts, light and dark, near and far.

We write to unload.

To set down the thoughts and worries we carry around. Innermost is your safe space for that.

Why Innermost

Thoughts get lighter on paper.

A worry kept in your head goes round and round. Write it down and it has somewhere to go. Once you can see it, it starts to shrink.

Nobody else can read it.

A paper journal can be found and read, so we hold back, even on the page. Innermost is locked with your password, and no one else has it. Not us, not Apple.

Let it breathe.

So write anything, all of it, honestly. Sometimes a worry on a loop just needs to be heard. Once it has been, it can rest.

  • No sign-up, no account
  • Everything is encrypted. Only you can open your thoughts
  • No server of ours and no tracking. Nothing leaves your devices except through your own iCloud, already encrypted
  • Buy the Mac app once, keep it forever. iPhone and iPad are free

How it works

  • Pour

Open it and write. The first line is the title. Nothing to fill in.

  • Drop

Catch a thought from anywhere with one shortcut, even while the vault is locked.

  • Threads and the journal

Move a thought to something you keep pulling on, or keep it in time order.

  • Surface

Brain dump, five whys and fear setting, for the worries that will not go quiet.

  • Scratch pad

Plain paper beside the vault. Practise a message, keep a list, paste a link. Pour it when it turns out to matter.

  • Papers and pictures

Keep a PDF or a photo with a thought. Sealed like everything else.

  • Burn

Some things only need writing. Burn it and it is gone for good.

  • Shadow

A sealed room behind a second key, for the parts of yourself you would rather not look at. Nothing inside shows from outside.

  • The gratitude bank

Deposit the good things. Withdraw one on a hard day.

  • One vault, every device

Mac, iPhone and iPad share it through your own iCloud, as files Apple cannot read.

Not a therapist

Innermost is a pressure valve and a mirror. It does not replace saying things out loud to a person, and it never talks back. Nothing in it reads what you write, including us.
